Milani is a giraffe calf that was born premature. Her mom started to get very sick and the team at Tanganyika Wildlife Park made the difficult decision to do a C section which has been done 3 other times but the giraffe calves did not make it. They had to make the hard decision to put the mama whose name was Virtue down. The team had to work fast to provide lifesaving care for Milani. Within a few minutes they got her breathing and placed a tube down her nose to help her breath. They also placed and IV to give Milani fluids and Plasma to boost her immune system. They also had to tube feed her to get her the nutrition she needed. This was done by an NG tube that goes down your nose and into your stomach to give you the nutrition you need to grow. This has never been done or successful before and Milani is doing amazing!! She has started taking a bottle and walking unassisted, got her IV out, removed the NG tube, no more oxygen, and even had her first zommies!!  If you want to learn more about Milani you can visit there blog here: https://twpark.com/premature-giraffe-calf/
